Xeriscape Rebate
To encourage landscapes that are appropriate to our desert environment, the Water Authority offers generous rebates for replacing turf with xeriscaping. Several conditions must be met to qualify.
Xeriscape rebate offers $3.00 per square foot
Pre-approval from the water authority xeriscape inspector must be conducted before ANY turf removal project can begin.
Fifty percent of the approved project area must be replaced with Fifty percent plant allowance from the Xeriscape guide plant list (ex: turf removed 500 sq. ft – replaced with 250 in plant allowance points)
Soil between plants must be covered with a minimum of 3 inches of mulch ( bulk organic mulch additional rebate available)
Spray irrigation must be converted to a drip, bubbler, or hand – watered system.
Itemized receipts with a zero balance for plant purchase, irrigation equipment, mulch, or a landscape contractor (if used) must be provided at the final inspection.
Rebate credits will be issued to the service installation address within 1-2 billing cycles or up to 90 day. Customers are eligible for a rebate credit per fiscal year (July 1 – June 30)
How to apply:
- Develop a landscape plan
- Draw a simple landscape plan or submit a plan designed by a professional. List each plant (using the scientific name) and rebate allowance points on the landscape plan
- Submit an online application
- Once an application has been submitted, call to schedule your initial inspection (505) 289-3026
- Upon approval of your application, you may begin your project ( you have 6 months to complete your Xeriscape conversion project)
- Schedule your final inspection (505) 289-3026
