3 – North Side Reuse

Re-Use and Shallow Aquifer Water

This project draws untreated surface water from the Rio Grande and blends it with recycled industrial wastewater for use on irrigation sites (such as golf courses) in the Northeast Heights and on the West Side.

It is important to remember that although the water we pump from the river in this facility costs us less to treat, it is still part of our allotted San Juan-Chama water. We have to be just as careful deciding how to use this water as we are with the water we clean for drinking water at our new Surface-Water Treatment Plant.

The water from this Re-Use Facility flows through pipes and reservoirs that are painted purple. The purple colored plumbing indicates that the water inside is non-potable (water that isn’t drinking water quality).
