Conservation is the easiest means of ensuring a future water supply.
Although we are now tapping a new source of water through the San Juan-Chama Drinking Water Project, conservation remains the most critical component of our long-term water supply strategy. Conservation is the easiest an most effective means of ensuring a future water supply.
Therefore, we must continue to reduce our water consumption. To date we have been very successful, lowering our per capita usage from more than 250 gallons per day in the mid-1990s to less than 150 gpcd today. But there is still work to be done.
The Water Authority provides a number of services to our customers to help them conserve water, including free water audits and a generous rebate program.
We also encourage our customers to explore ways to save water in the bathroom, kitchen and outdoors.
