DROUGHT WATCH IN EFFECT

MARCH 17, 2021–The Water Authority’s Governing Board has declared a Stage One Drought Watch in response to the very dry conditions affecting Albuquerque and Bernalillo County. Under a Stage One Drought Watch, water waste fines double and the Water Authority  increases education and outreach efforts to curb excessive water use.

Water Authority customers can do their part in the community’s drought response by—

  • Attending a free, online WaterSmart class ($20 bill credits available)
  • Following the Water by the Numbers program (water just once per week in March and twice per week in April and May)
  • Troubleshoot irrigation systems for leaks, broken components and improperly aimed sprinkler heads

More information on the current drought can be found on the U.S Drought Monitor website.
