Our 2011 Water Festival in October was Waterrific!
Applications for the 2012 Water Festival will begin in April
The Albuquerque Bernalillo County Water Utility Authority is proud to sponsor the Children's Water Festival in order to provide water resources education at the elementary level. At the festival, about 1,000 area fourth graders and their teachers participate in five hands on activities about water. These activities are taught by water professionals from our community who are excited to volunteer at the festival - it's a rare opportunity for them to share their chosen field of work with students. If you are a fourth grade teacher and would like your students to have the opportunity to participate in this free day of learning, you should know these things:
- There is no cost to the teachers or schools who participate. We even provide free bus service from your school to the Water Festival and back to your school.
- One teacher should apply for all fourth grade classes at your school. If accepted, all fourth grade classes at your school must attend.
- Applications always exceed the number we can serve, so please know that we will contact all teachers by the last week in August 2011 to let them know if they have been selected.
- If you are not selected this year, please reapply next year.
Our festivals are unique among Children’s Water Festivals nationwide in that we use pre- and post-festival student surveys, activity evaluations, teacher evaluations and presenter evaluations to improve our program. Read about our progress in our Annual Reports:
