Activity: Think of All the Electricity It Takes to Reclaim the Wastewater

Bar screen rakes need electricity to clean the screens. Conveyor belts use electricity to move the trash.

Clarifiers use electricity to push the sludge to the center. Pumps need electricity to pump sludge to the digesters

Aeration Basins need electricity to compress air so there will be lots of oxygen for the microorganisms.

The Ultraviolet light that sterilizes microorganisms takes a lot of electricity.

Dewatering uses electricity to spin the sludge to make it light enough for trucks to move.

Computers need Electricity to run.

Each process has a computer that controls it.

These are just a few ways we use electricity to reclaim wastewater. We think you'll agree that we put all the electricity to good use!
