The Water Reclamation Division is responsible for maintaining the Albuquerque and Bernalillo County wastewater collection system and wastewater reclamation plant. The Division serves Albuquerque and Bernalillo County area homes, businesses and institutions that are connected to the sewer system. The Division's more than 200 employees work:

Wastewater in the service area that is flushed down a toilet or poured down a sink, shower or bathtub drain flows through the system of sewer pipelines that the Water Reclamation Division builds and maintains. The sewers carry it to the Southside Water Reclamation Plant (SWRP). SWRP receives and reclaims about 60 million gallons of wastewater daily. Residential customers produce about 80 percent of this wastewater. The SWRP recycles about 200 million gallons of water each year, which is used for cleaning and irrigation. |
