Water Quality Report 2011 PDF Print E-mail

Albuquerque Bernalillo County Water Utility Authority water customers will begin receiving the Water Quality Report for 2011 in the mail today.  The report provides an overview of water quality in the Water Authority’s service area for the calendar year 2011. Among other things, the annual publication:

  • Fulfills a requirement of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency to inform customers about the substances found in our drinking water.    
  • Includes accurate information about the quality of drinking water from source to tap.
  • Provides monitoring information from the San Juan-Chama Drinking Water Project surface water treatment plant. 
  • Displays arsenic concentrations throughout the water system on a map of the water service area. 

Copies of the Water Quality Report can be obtained by:

  • Printing the report from the Water Quality web site.  The report is available in English and Spanish.
  • Phoning the Water Quality Information Line at 857-8260.

Key Facts About Our Drinking Water:

  • 92 wells in the Santa Fe Group aquifer that lies under the Middle Rio Grande Valley produce the ground water supply.
  • Purified surface water from the San Juan-Chama Drinking Water Project is blended with the ground water supply and delivered to customer taps.   In 2011, the project delivered about 41 percent of our total drinking water.
  • More than 5,500 water samples were collected from wells, surface water treatment plant, storage tanks, and customer taps for analyses of more than 54,000 test results last year.
