The Water Utility Authority is once again offering the River Is Ours (RIO) Field Trip for no cost to fourth-grade classes in the Albuquerque area. We schedule and pay for the bus to bring all fourth grade classes from your school to the Rio Grande Nature Center. Field trips occur on Mondays during the school year, with only two – three classes participating at a time so we can focus on your students’ learning. Our commitment to teach students about water using hands-on, brains-on activities is assured as we use Project WET activities throughout the field trip. Afterwards, we meet with the fourth-grade teachers at your school for a one-hour in-school workshop that completes your six hours of Project WET training. Teachers then receive a copy of the Project WET 2.0 Activity Guide, packed with water-based learning activities. If you are a fourth-grade teacher and would like your students to have the opportunity to participate in this free day of learning, you should know these things:
If you are not selected to attend this year, please reapply next year as one of our selection criterion is interest. We look forward to seeing you and your students at the River Is Ours (RIO) Field Trip!
