Notice: As of July 1, 2009, the Fire Hydrant Meter Program will be moving to the 1st floor of One Civic Plaza (City Hall), room 1026 in Customer Services.
Note: Connections to fire hydrants at any location are prohibited except by the Utility, Fire Departments within the Service area or by written permit issued by the Executive Director (see ordinance - 168KB ). Use of a fire hydrant meter not owned and/or permitted by the ABCWUA or using a hydrant meter at any hydrant not approved under this permit constitutes Water Theft and/or Tampering which is a criminal offense with a penalty of up to $500.00 and/or 90 days in jail. To provide convenient access to water from fire hydrants, the Water Authority issues fire hydrant meter permits to qualified applicants needing water for construction and other projects. The first step in obtaining a permit to use water from a hydrant is to submit an Application for Fire Hydrant Meter Permit, with legible copies of your NM Contractors License, Federal Tax I.D. Number Certificate, Driver's License, and W-9 (Request for Tax Payer Identification Number and Certification). Your signature on the application certifies that you agree to comply with all conditions of service. You will be required to pay a damage and surety deposit of $3,000 plus a nonrefundable connection fee of $230 plus $11.50 tax. Upon receipt of your
